Have We Been Saying Kirsten Dunst’s Name Wrong All Along?

Kirsten Dunst just set the record straight, and you have probably been saying her name wrong for years. In a recent TikTok shared by Town & Country, the “Melancholia” actress revealed that the correct way to say it is Keer-sten, not Kur-sten, not Kristen, and definitely not Kirstin.

She didn’t make a big fuss about it, though. In fact, she laughed it off. “I mean, everyone messes up my name, so I give up,” Kirsten Dunst says in the clip. “I don’t care.” She is clearly over it. At this point, she answers to just about anything that sounds vaguely close.

@townandcountrymagazine You don’t have to call #KirstenDunst by her name—she’s heard it all, and she’s far too gracious to correct you. #CommonCourtesy #TownAndCountry ♬ original sound - Town & Country

Dunst, 43, mentions that there were folks from Sweden and Hungary on set and nobody could say it correctly. Rather than get annoyed, she just rolled with it. “You just give up,” she said, shrugging it off.

Kirsten / IG / Even people she works with regularly don’t get it right. According to Dunst, the cast and crew on her last project kept mispronouncing her name.

Despite the mix-ups, Kirsten Dunst has never been the type to correct people mid-conversation. She is not out here giving passive-aggressive interviews or dropping hints on red carpets. Instead, she lets it slide. This proves that the “Bring It On” actress is way too chill to sweat the small stuff.

That doesn’t mean it hasn’t gotten old. When it happens constantly, even with coworkers, it is easy to see why she has given up correcting people.

The “Marie Antoinette” actress has been in the spotlight since childhood. By now, you'd think people would get it right. But somehow, they don’t. Even in England, where Dunst says no one ever gets it right, she keeps her cool. “I don’t blame people,” she said. It is just one of those things she has learned to live with.

The couple tends to keep their family life quiet, but she did open up about a recent scare involving their younger son.

Kirsten / IG / Her two sons, Ennis and James, probably won't have that problem. Their names are pretty straightforward. Dunst shares them with fellow actor Jesse Plemons.

While Dunst was filming her upcoming movie “The Entertainment System Is Down” in Budapest, James got sick. Plemons had to fly back to Los Angeles with the boys while she stayed behind to finish filming. Dunst didn’t say exactly what was wrong, but made it clear that everything is fine now.

It is a rare moment of vulnerability for the “The Virgin Suicides” actress, who usually keeps her personal life under wraps. Sharing something so private just shows how grounded she is. Fame hasn’t changed her, and neither have the mispronunciations.

Now, Kirsten Dunst is getting ready for her next big role. She will star in “Roofman,” hitting theaters on October 10. The movie sounds wild in the best way. Channing Tatum plays a former Army Ranger who starts robbing McDonald’s by cutting holes in their roofs. Yes, really.

Dunst hasn’t revealed much about her character, but knowing her, it will be unforgettable. She always brings edge, even when the role is subtle. If her past work in films like “Melancholia,” “The Power of the Dog,” or “Spider-Man” is any clue, she will steal scenes without trying too hard.
